Make and sell sandwiches from home.....

Sell sandwiches to office workers during the lunch hour or afternoons......

This is one idea to make a little extra money from home that nearly everyone can have a go at. Can you butter a slice of bread and come up with some interesting sandwich filling combinations? If the answer is yes then you are on your way to start earning some money from home.

You may want to make more than just sandwiches and in this case, why not take a part time catering course before you set up? Not only will this give you some good back grounding but it will also open the doors for more employment prospects.

Who will be your customers? Office workers, shop assistants, manual workers, students etc....
What will you sell? Ready wrapped sandwiches which you have made in advance, made-to-order sandwiches which you will make on the spot according to your customers requests or both?

What will you stock? Will you specialise and sell products for the health conscious such as salads, low salt and low fat sandwiches or rolls, freshly squeezed fruit juices and yogurt drinks?

How will you monitor your sales and see which products sell well and which are least popular? Will you discontinue the products that don’t sell well? What will you replace them with?

Starting up a small sandwich business from home is not difficult but you do need to do some pre planning. Where will you prepare the sandwiches? How will you package them? Do you have storage space for the fillings, fruit juice cartons etc?

Before you set up your home based business, think about how you can make your services unique. Don’t forget that there is plenty of competition out there! What will be your unique selling point? Ask yourself, ‘’ Why should customers buy from me and not one of my competitors?’’

Be creative. What would you like to have on offer at lunch times or in the afternoon? Locally produced products? For example, a local farmer may be happy to sell you free range eggs that are collected every morning, allotment are a good place to buy locally grown chemical free products such as, lettuce, tomatoes etc. Consider Vegetarian and Vegan sandwich options – Do your competitors cater for vegans?

Promoting your home based business.

Have some flyers printed up and deliver them to local offices or ask friends to post the flyers where they are working. Add your sandwich business online to some local directories.
Make a start and get known, rent out a stall at a local event and sell your sandwiches. This also gives you the opportunity to give out your business cards.
Use the internet for marketing and reach a much larger market. You don’t need to have any HMTL (Hyper Text Markup Language) language to create your own website. With Dreamweaver and FrontPage you can create your own website very easily.

Additionally, Blogger and Word Press are two examples of blog sites that offer free hosting and within just 5 minutes you can have your own blog site just like this one. Blogger and Word Press have templates and add-ons so you can customise your own blog site.
