Make money from the web by blogging

The web is an excellent place to start if you want to earn money at home.

Let’s have a look at how you can make money from the web by blogging.

Blogs are an important online source for information and there are bloggers who have, as a result of their blogging had books based on their blogs published. The blog My Milk Toof is a perfect example. Imagine an unemployed blogger with a passion for the arts and animation who literally turned her life around with this cute blog. My Milk Toof

Blogger and Wordpress.com are without a doubt the best known free blog hosting services. Which one you decide to use is up to you. Both have their own benefits.

If you use Blogger as your host then you can earn money through Google's AdSense. By displaying targeted adverts on your blog, you will get paid for clicks that have been made by visitors to your blog.
AsSense does not clutter up your blog but simply appears in your side bar which you can adjust and re-position by dragging from your Layout settings.

Earning money from your blog won’t come overnight. You need to build up an audience and create a blog that is credible and worth reading which can take a couple of years. It takes dedication and a real passion. Don’t give up halfway or you will regret it in the long run .

Another way to earn money through your blog is to sign up as an affiliate and sell the programmes products through your blog. Amazon.com is one of the most popular affiliate options. You can sign up for free and have our account open in minutes. Once a sale has been made by a customer forwarded from your blog then you will earn commission.

You can also earn money by writing blog posts about certain products, services. PayPerPost.com is an example of a programme that connects bloggers with advertisers who will pay for blog posts to be written about their products or services on your own blog. Getting started is easy. Simply register your blog and in return advertisers will offer you ‘opportunities’ of which you have the option to accept or decline. These are known as sponsored blog posts. Payment is made through PayPal.

Earn money making candles at home

Another way to earn some money working from home is to make and sell candles.  This is a popular craft and sales of candles increase over the Christmas and Easter periods especially. Candles, in particular aromatherapy candles make popular gifts for birthdays, anniversaries and of course house warming’s.

Candles and tea lights can successfully be sold at craft fairs, gift and speciality shops as well as furniture shops.  While candles can be made at low cost from home, you may find the process rather messy and in this case you may prefer to buy ready made plain candles and simply decorate them with glitter, pressed dried flowers, ribbons etc.

As a beginner you will need to pick up a couple of books on candle making.  At the very start, don’t make unnecessary expenditures, there is no need.  Borrow books instead of buying and sign up for candle making newsletters over the Internet.

Why not start off with a candle making kit and see how you get on before buying supplies for your candle making business.

Buying your supplies will mean selecting different types of waxes, for example beeswax, paraffin wax, soy wax.  You will also need to buy a selection of wicks and dye as well as fragrances, moulds/jars and a candle thermometer.

Use the Internet to find prospective clients. You don’t need to have any HMTL (Hyper Text Markup Language) language to create your very own website. Using Dreamweaver and FrontPage you can create your own website very easily from scratch.

Blogger and Word Press are two examples of blog sites that offer free hosting and within minutes you can have your own blog site just like this one up and running.  Blogger and Word Press both have templates and add-ons so you can customise your own blog.

Sell your handmade candles through your own online shop with Etsy . This website allows sellers to create their own Etsy shop sell handmade goods, vintage items and supplies.

Love animals? How to earn an income from home

The number of people owning pets continues to increase and as it does so, the demand for animal services and products has also grown.  If you have a love of animals then you are well on the way to earn some extra money at home. Let’s have a look at one of the options.  Do bear in mind that if you will be taking care of other peoples pets that some animal first aid knowledge would be useful.

Dog walking is a good way to start your own business and earn some extra cash from home.  Dog walkers are in big demand, especially by dog owners who are working full time as well as by the elderly or infirm.
How are you going to start and build your business?   Word of mouth is the greatest marketing tool, and best of all it is free!  However you need to get some customers first so let’s have a quick look at some ways that you might promote your dog walking business...

Market yourself.  Get some business cards and flyer's printed up. Are you going to give your business a name?  If so, make it something catchy and memorable. Advertise on the local classified ads, post your dog walking service in pet shops, offices, local fetes etc.  Are you prepared to travel to walk dogs? If not then keep the advertisements local.  Ask friends and relatives what they think of your idea to set up a business from home and ask them what they would want from a dog walker.  Maybe they can come up with something totally original that your competition hasn’t thought of yet!  If your friends have dogs, volunteer to take them for a walk- There is no time like the present to get experience!
Why not offer a discount to the first 10 customers who sign up with you? Getting your first customers is going to be the main hurdle.

Use the Internet for marketing and reach a much larger market or simply use it to inform your local community about your dog walking service.  You don’t need to have any HMTL (Hyper Text Markup Language) language to create your own website. With Dreamweaver and FrontPage you can create your own website very easily.

Blogger and Word Press are two examples of blog sites that offer free hosting and within just 5 minutes you can have your own blog site just like this one.  Blogger and Word Press have templates and add-ons so you can customise your own blog site.   On your website, include the areas that you cover, your rates, your contact information, other services provided and photographs of the dogs that you walk as well as testimonials once you get your client base.

The good news is, working from home does not involve any large start-up costs and your marketing costs will be low or even free.
Getting started!  Don’t take on more than you can manage.  Walking 4 dogs at any one time is the absolute maximum unless there are 2 of you!  Any more than 4 dogs and they will tend to disregard any commands that you give them and become unmanageable.
How much are you going to charge for an hour? Will you offer a cheaper rate if you will be walking more than one dog?  How about a half hour walk option? Some customers may prefer this especially if their dogs are old.
It is recommended that you take out public liability insurance.  This covers you if one of the dogs that you walk bites or attacks another dog or a pedestrian or even does some damage to private property. You should also strongly consider taking out care, custody and control insurance in case of of the dos gets lost or is injured whist in your care.
